Privacy Policy

Who we are

This privacy policy applies to gagaballpits.net. The site publishes buying guides and reference material about gaga ball and gaga ball pits, and earns commission through the Amazon Associates Program.

You can reach us about anything in this policy at [email protected].

What we collect

We do not ask you for personal information and there is nowhere on this site to give us any. There are no contact forms, no newsletter signup, no comments, no accounts and no logins for visitors.

We do not run analytics software, advertising scripts or social media trackers on this site, and we do not set cookies of our own.

Server logs

Like every website, this one runs on a web server that keeps access logs. A log entry typically records the IP address of the request, the date and time, the page requested, the referring page and the browser identifier. These logs are generated and retained by our hosting provider, are used for security and troubleshooting, and are not combined with anything else or used to build a profile of you.

Cookies

This site does not set cookies for ordinary visitors browsing pages.

Two exceptions are worth naming. A caching layer may set a technical cookie in some circumstances to serve pages correctly, and WordPress sets cookies for logged-in administrators. Neither applies to a normal visit.

Following an affiliate link to Amazon is a different matter, and is covered below.

Affiliate links and Amazon

gagaballpits.net is a participant in the Amazon Services LLC Associates Program, an affiliate advertising program designed to provide a means for sites to earn advertising fees by advertising and linking to Amazon.com. As an Amazon Associate we earn from qualifying purchases.

Product links on this site carry an affiliate tag. When you click one, Amazon records that the visit came from us, usually by setting a cookie in your browser, so that any purchase you make can be attributed to this site. This costs you nothing and does not change the price you pay.

Once you land on Amazon you are on Amazon’s website and subject to Amazon’s privacy notice and cookie policy, not ours. We never see your name, your address, your payment details or what you bought. Amazon reports commissions to us in aggregate, without identifying individual customers.

Service providers

A small number of providers process technical data on our behalf in order to keep the site running:

  • Hosting. Serves the site and keeps the access logs described above.
  • Backups. A backup plugin copies site files and the database to storage so the site can be restored after a failure.
  • Login security. A security plugin records failed login attempts, including the IP address they came from, to block brute-force attacks. This concerns administrator accounts, not visitors.

None of these providers receive personal information about visitors beyond what appears in a standard server log.

Children’s privacy

Gaga ball is a children’s game, but this site is written for adults buying equipment: parents, teachers, camp staff and programme directors. It is not directed at children.

We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone, including children under 13. Since the site has no forms, accounts or comments, there is no route through which a child could submit information to us. If you believe a child has somehow provided us with personal information, contact us and we will look into it.

Your rights

Depending on where you live, data protection law may give you the right to request access to personal data held about you, to have it corrected or deleted, to object to or restrict its processing, and to receive a copy in a portable format. Residents of the European Economic Economic Area and the United Kingdom have these rights under the GDPR; residents of California have comparable rights under the CCPA, including the right not to be discriminated against for exercising them.

In practice we hold almost nothing about you. If you would like to exercise any of these rights, or simply ask what we have, write to [email protected] and we will respond. Requests about data held by Amazon should go to Amazon directly, since we have no access to it.

We do not sell personal information, and we have never done so.

How long data is kept

Server access logs are retained by the hosting provider for a limited period under its own retention schedule and are then discarded. Backups are rotated and overwritten. We do not maintain any database of visitors.

Security

The site is served over HTTPS, so traffic between your browser and the server is encrypted. Administrator access is protected against brute-force attempts. No system is perfectly secure, but since we hold no visitor data, there is very little here to lose.

This site links to Amazon and occasionally to other external pages. We are not responsible for the privacy practices or the content of any site we link to. Read their policies before giving them information.

Changes to this policy

If the site starts using analytics, advertising or any other service that collects data, this page will be updated to say so before that service goes live. Continued use of the site after a change means you accept the revised policy.
